nancy'S STORY:

Nancy’s father died of AIDS when she was very young. Her mother is alive but is HIV positive and unable to care for her. While most young girls in this situation would commute back and forth between home and town to try to find or steal food, Nancy could not because her village was too far away from any large town. This led to her living the street life by herself for three and a half years. She was abused on the streets by fellow street boys, developed skin related diseases and began abusing drugs. In 2011, Nancy was rescued and taken in by Saving Grace in Uganda- thanks in-part to her friendship with another former street child, Esther.

Nancy now lives a life completely renewed from her life on the streets. She always has a ready smile on her face and an infectious giggle to match. She finds joy in helping others around the village, washing clothes, and making jewelry. She studies hard in school and is very intelligent. Nancy dreams of becoming an accountant one day because of her love for helping others.
