Favorite Bible Verse: "He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling." - Daniel 10:11
Daniel's parents were killed by rebels during Joseph Kony's civil war in Uganda. After this, he went to live with his aunt and uncle who physically abused him. He then moved in with his grandmother but she could not support him so he was forced to turn to the streets. Daniel would regularly eat out of the garbage which led to his development of the deadly disease tuberculosis, which nearly killed him. After three years on the streets Uncle Fred used emergency funds to take Daniel in, due to his critical condition. Saving Grace paid for his TB treatment in the capital city of Kampala along with two additional surgeries in the hospital in Lira.
Today Daniel is healthy, healed of disease and free from street life! He is a creative boy who loves doing crafts and dancing. Daniel is mature beyond his years, a stand out leader when the oldest boys are away at secondary school and a humble and kind-hearted servant to all in the village. He is just as happy running around and playing soccer as he is helping younger ones with homework. He loves welcoming people to Saving Grace and is always ready to share a smile. In the future Daniel hopes to become an engineer.
