Daniel's STORY:

Daniel's parents were murdered by rebels of the LRA when he was three years old. He was so young when they were killed that he cannot even recognize photos of his mother or father. Daniel managed to survive 5 years on the streets partly thanks to his natural physical strength. He experienced much adversity and hardship, from trying to find enough food to live to persevering through severe cases of malaria with no access to treatment. He had lost all hope for a peaceful life until God directed Uncle Fred to rescue him.

Daniel is a fun-loving boy. He is a very gifted soccer player and scores a goal in nearly any match he plays in. He also enjoys playing cards and and farming. As "Daniel" is a popular name in the Saving Grace village, this Daniel often goes by his last name, Okwir. Daniel hopes to become a social worker once he graduates school so that he can provide other children with the same opportunities Saving Grace in Uganda has provided him.
