At age 3, Francis’s parents were killed by Joseph Kony’s LRA rebels. For 8 years he survived life on the streets. He had no one to care for him, no guarantee of a meal, no safety and no hope. In 2013 while one of SGU’s teams was in Uganda doing a street feeding for the local children, they met Francis for the first time. His condition was urgent and within 24 hours the team was able to find an American donor to pay for 1 year’s worth of school fees for him. The next day Francis was attending Saving Grace Primary School and living at the village.
Having never attended school before, Francis began classes with children half of his age. Although still behind, Francis is moving up quickly and excelling in school. He is a very humble boy who always puts others above himself. He is servant-hearted and always helps with chores around the village. Francis is shy but always smiling and can often be found playing card games or soccer at the children's village. Francis hopes to one day become a doctor so that he can help people just like Saving Grace helped him.
